CHRIS BENZ AUTUMN / WINTER 2012

Attending to a Chris Benz presentation, has turned out to be like walking into a fully fantasy, filled with the richest creations that seemed to be incredibly twisted, and living in some kind of a different era. That means madly tres chic. Fall represents to Chris one of the perfect seasons to dress women head-to-toe on his childhood visions and dreams, off course this one was no exception. Featuring a whimsical modesty girl, that lives enchanted in a sparkly luxe dream – precise words to describe the influence that captured the golden years of Judy Garland and Dolly Parton; which later on the show Chris confirmed they were strong influence for this collection. But remember, at his shows we are making everything literally real; a golden sequined mesh backdrop and girls sporting voluminous wigs and playful caps styled as pillbox hats, did looked like classic characters straight from the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer first golden years of Hollywood films. Add to that, the cabaret soundtrack that felt actually as if people did not get the memo of dressing up in vintage glamour for the occasion.

In a fusion of reds, yellows and green, boldness and brightness from colors was later balanced with muted-neutral tones of ivory white, beige, black, gold and other aspects of textures that give an amazing effect; like the sequined embellishments on a crew neck top. Following, girls became a fantastic living version between the past and present; wearing sweaters in astrakhan fur, paired with printed pants in exquisite crushed lame. Cigarette cropped pants, belted cardigans, voluminous skirts with tulle, mink fur necks and cuffs were highlight statements on the collection. Just irresistible, as Chris girls wearing Alejandro Ingelmo twisted heeled shoes in shiny leather. Funky wigs adorned the beauty of the girls as theme for the show, and huge bows accessorized with an accent of glamour the garments. The truth is that there’s only a few designers like Chris, that can capture all of these at once.

Art, just simply goes in hand with the dressing-up synonym at his shows, always delivering his best in all aspects. Even his ideas feel so real, that for now, girls who attended to the show; recently, they might have been feeling the urge to have a fantastic Charleston dance in those clothes. With all that screaming dashing-sparkling elegance, who wouldn’t feel that way?
