Designer Paola Robba from Poko Pano – which is one of the most traditional swim brands in Brazil, since 1988, showcased her Spring/Summer 2013 collection during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2013 in Miami. For this collection Robba’s looked for inspiration in Salvador which is the capital of the northeastern Brazilian state of Bahia, renowned for a rich Afro-Brazilian culture and colorful streets and fun carnival with a chic touch of the 60’s – retro era.

In this collection, Paola Robba decided to include 44 looks of elegant separates-swimwear and beach apparel like: bikinis, pleat-front sweetheart one-piece, push-up halter tops, tunics, track palazzo pants, A-line dress all designed in ample shapes, perfect for the modern women, who want to look beautiful and stylish while basking in the sun. When it comes to the color palette, she introduces beautiful bright colors like: tangerine, reds, and green, with lot of pieces in black and white. Most of these sophisticated designs are made with beautiful elements and materials. Some of the bikinis pieces, include overlaid crochet and soda can tab mesh, which is something really unique that I haven’t seen before, but in Paola Robba’s hands, turn out to be stylish sexy, chic and elegant bikinis.

She also features floral prints influenced by the flowers and trees that you can find in the beautiful city of Salvador, as well as other colourful and fun prints. Some of the pieces, which by the way are some of my favorites, included white high-gloss patchwork appliqué in shaped of seagulls which gave the perfect contrast against the black fabric. Thank you Paola Robba for bringing a beautiful, feminine, chic and fun collection to the runway; inspired by Salvador in Brazil and its traditional colors, plants and birds.
