PAOLA HERNÁNDEZ – SPRING 2012

RLB

Designer Paola Hernández launched her label in 2006, after studying fashion at Saint Martin’s in London and shoe design at ARS Sutoria in Milan. “Fashion is a manifestation of collective consciousness,” says Paola, “my creative process starts with a question of how to understand human evolution.”

Paola utilizes fashion design as a means of exploring ideas and proposing ways of life that can inspire humanity towards a better state of mind through self-development. Her designs are based on philosophical concepts. They translate to the pieces with symbols and details chosen to represent each concept.

For Spring-Summer 2012, Paola was going for a relaxed mood as all the models were lounging poolside on the roof of Hotel Americano. Chatting, reading and sipping hibiscus cocktails, the models lounged in Hernandez’s spring-summer 2012 collection. As described in the presentation notes, the vision for the Mexican designer’s collection came from the search for the intersection between the physical and the spiritual. In addition, Hernandez designs and produces her own shoe collection including oxfords, moccasins, and pumps; as well as all of the accessories which includes leather tote bags, clutches and fabulous wallets.

Paola’s vision recognizes that clothes are a symbol used to represent our own individuality. Through each collection I focus on portraying a way in which people evolve toward consciousness, ultimately becoming the best expression of themselves. Throughout her career she has presented her collections in New York, London, Paris, Reykjavik, Bogotá and Mexico City.
