MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK F/W11 DAY 4

Simon Spurr Fall Winter 2011-12

Oversize detachable hoodies, that English sophistication, and only Simon’s recognizable work detail, builds the Fall/Winter collection of designer Simon Spurr. Shirts with crossing stripes, blazers with aluminum details, black leather chemises and low V neck hooded jackets came down a T form runway at Art Exit in New York.

The ensembles were classic menswear with casual details creating a versatile collection, wearable for day or night.
Simon Spurr, as he says himself, used a variety of colours, but maintained the grey, black and white commonly present in his collections. With brightening touches in the dulls, the breathtaking twists of classics were memorable.
In the venue was recognized Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour, which clearly means that Simon Spurr is a designer everyone must watch.

MAX AZRIA F/W 11

The designers Max and Lubov Azria tailored urban ease sophistication where femininity meted function. The mesmerizing gowns stole the spotlight as their dreamy flow in the runway, was just astonishing. The unexpected table turning details (back zipper details, snake skin leggings, flowy long sleeve tailed dresses, 3D fringed layers) were the shockers of the event, and Max Azria’s twists of the regular (aviator body suits, faux fur mini skirts, organza poncho, A style shirt dress) reinvented popular pieces.
For this occasion, he worked prints and drapery, red, and brocade details of washed textiles.
Closing the runway was a silk black long gown that ended with ocean wave-like movement crashing of the catwalk. Max Azria definitely took breaths away with this Fall/Winter 2011.

Calvin Klein Menswear FW11 Collection

Today, designer Italo Lucchelli showed us a bold-reduced-minimal-sophisticated concept for Calvin Klein menswear fall/winter 2011 collection. Calvin Klein it’s well know for being a timeless luxury brand and this time there’s not doubt about it. There was a great tailoring and construction of pieces, he play with different neutral colors as well as having bright bold colors like cobalt blue and red in some of the pieces. The modern sophisticated feeling play on different shapes, structured necks and oversize sleeves. Also the good way those jackets, coats and suits we’re tailored to create a new modern concept to the minimalistic absorption.

Italo also play with textures, a lot of puffy polyester jackets as well as thick blended cotton used for the jackets and pants. With all the minimalism he didn’t forgot to gave us some fun by having some pieces in black & white diminutive plaid pattern that from far away can be describe as houndstooth print, the show closed with some super elegant suits in black with white lines around the lapel’s of the blazer’s.
Simple elegance & luxury is always found in a minimal – sophisticated concept

CUSTO BARCELONA F/W 2011/12

Custo Barcelona presented hisnew FW 2011-2012 collection in an innovative show that surprised all the audience. For Custo 2011 is a great time for renewal, change, and also for breaking new ground to shake up the form and content of things. Through working with textures, handmade details, a totally new colour palette and graphics that evolve but preserve their DNA. Custo bring us new proposals which are extremely subtle; a return to the roots of traditional tailoring, with garments full of hand-stitched details that are a far cry from mass production. An appreciation of the handmade look, with all its little irregularities, the austere prevails over the vacuity of luxe and bling, and fabrics are reinvented at the service of the most urbanite and informal design

The daytime and nighttime looks are easily distinguishable in this collection. Bright, relaxed daywear. The woman who wears these daytime garments is totally urban and is looking for something with personality for work and weekends. She is intelligent and non-conformist, but without losing sight of her sexier and more daring spirit. A real Revolution Grrrls style.

The Custo nighttime look for women, is one of the strong points of the collection. The fit is comfortable and roomy with oversize pieces which it’s a constant. Tops are wide over narrow bottoms, with the odd flare or bag. Boho chic with unstructured flowing lines to emphasise the variety of feminine shapes. The Fall/Winter 2011 Collection is divided into four themed groups: Sweet Uniform, Texture Doll, 3D and London Calling.
