Suzanne Rogers Presents MARCHESA

The Carlu – Toronto, Canada.

Suzanne Rogers was born in Northern Ontario town of Elliot Lake. Beginning her education in London Ontario, and finishing at University of Western Ontario; with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, after becoming a mother, Suzanne Rogers holds a special place in her heart for charitable causes and community service which directly impacts and improves the lives of children. Following her passion for fashion, Suzanne Rogers launched Suzanne Rogers Presents, a signature event, specially designed to support children’s charities.

The second fashion fundraiser, that took place at The Carlu on April 5th, presented the first Canadian runway show of the British natives co-founders of the American couturier Marchesa.
The black tie evening presented by Suzanne Rogers, alongside Marchesa‘s co-founders Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig was expected to raise over $750,000. With the presence of Sarah, Duchess of York as Honorary Chair, the event consisted of a fashion show featuring the Marchesa Fall 2011 collection followed by a seated diner.

The gala was officially opened by the Duchess of York, gracing a vintage Marchesa eveningwear.

I am pleased to support an event which makes a difference to the lives of children” – Sarah, Duchess of York.

Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig from Marchesa, were the perfect duo for the occasion. Showcasing a mash of life and death, the audience was reminded of the fragility of life and the reason all were there. Inspired by vintage silhouettes with a modern aesthetic, the runway of fashion vision with art in mind created and opulence decay. Deconstructed Victoriana crafted in signature drapings and exclusive textile creations, were embroidered with distinctive iconic style portraying a fast forward of the Victorian elegance and royalty. A runway show, which Marchesa hasn’t done in several years, was opened with a crash of wave sounds, producing the most beautiful blossoming velvet red pieces, falling brocade of dreaming brides and pleaded organza aphrodite detalia.

Marchesa is thrilled to be a part of the Suzanne Rogers’ fundraising gale. We have always admired her ongoing commitment to children’s charities and we are so honored to be working with her on such an amazing event. We hope that with out involvement and partnership, we can make this evening celebration a true success and we look forward to showcasing Marchesa in support of such a phenomenal cause” – Georgina Chapman from Marchesa.

Pieces showed in the Marchesa FW11 presentation on the New York Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, floated down the runway at The Carlu, producing unique reactions as if they were just seen for the first time. Breathtaking figures and textiles overlay the gala with rouge desire and tones of white and black. The battle-like music was appropriate for the cause everyone was fighting for. A very deserved applause finalized the show during the exit of the standing imageries in the U shape runway, concluding a one-of-a-kind runway gala.

Proceeds from the evening will go to benefit the Herbie Fund which provides financial support to children around the world in order to receive surgical treatment at SickKids Hospital in Toronto. Additional charities include The Children’s Aid Foundation in Toronto, The Rose Home for Children in New Delhi, and The Sarah Ferguson Foundation, founded by the Duchess of York and supported by Michael and Ophelia Lazaridis.

Marchesa was established in 2004 by Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig. The beautiful crafted designs, fuse high fashion with an eclectic aesthetic.
