Fashion designer Christian Siriano, who shows a full collection each season during New York Fashion Week, and his designs have appeared in some of the most respected fashion magazines around the world, took color blocking by the reigns for a collection that embraced simplicity. For this Spring 2012 the master of fabric manipulation – designer Christian Siriano, was inspired by the color and structure of corals.
“I was looking originally at a lot of different photographs of these very interesting underwater creatures, barnacles…different types of coral,” said Siriano backstage to the press, “I thought it was very interesting because the textures are so beautiful, I really wanted the collection to be really colorful and exciting and really fresh for spring and I think color is the best way to do that.”
The Spring 2012 collection is casual but elegant and features a palate wonderfully fresh perfect not only for spring but for every season. Siriano sent down the runway one his strongest collection to date, one that balanced his flair for dramatic dresses with easy, seriously wearable separates that included pieces like sleek silk maxi skirts paired with t-shirts, and cropped silk pants with cape blouses in colors like acid greens, bold corals and nude beige, that transitioned into the dramatic evening-wear for which Siriano is best known for. The collection was styled by Danielle Nachmani and the second season that she collaborates with Siriano, who she also happens to be the stylist for Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. This Christian Siriano collection was glamorous in all the right places, check out the exclusive backstage and runway pictures.
