BACKSTAGE BEAUTY AT RICHARD CHAI S/S 2014

Every New York fashion week, it is quite an impossible mission to beat Richard Chai’s incredible model line-up by casting director Evelien Joos. But to make sure that cast looks regal, that’s a completely different story to tell. This season, for the Spring/Summer 2014 show, hair stylist Kevin Ryan proposed a sleek-hairstyle with an ease feeling. To achieve that minimalist and polished look, Ryan had all the models (including boys with long hair) have their hair blow-dried to optimize a straight-down softness. Right after, he proceeded to slightly damp the girls hair with Aveda Men Pure-Formance Liquid Pomade â€“ parting the hair on the middle, combing it to the sides behind the ears, and going all the way straight back from the head. Clockwise, a maximum-hold and Control-Tenue Gel from Aveda Menwas specially used for the boys with short hair. (Quick note: We strongly recommend the products.) Both offer UVA protection, natural texture, hold, and shine, without drying or damaging your hair – plus they have an incredible fresh-musky scent, that certainly, infested the ambiance of that day backstage-scenario.

For beauty, make-up artist James Kaliardos focused on defining a minimal and natural look, by strongly adding attention to the eyebrows and face structure. To highlight those, Kaliardos started by contouring the face using a darker tone of 24HR Cream Gel, Eye Studio Shadow from Maybelline New York. And applied it throughout the areas where the face presents strong features – cheekbones, nose, and chin. Following, eyebrows were brushed with a Maybelline Master Shape Brow-Pencil; which created a dark and bushy-look on them. A hint of dark mascara was applied on the upper lashes, creating a strong outline on the eyes. And to add a natural and feminine touch, Kaliardos finished the look with a Maybelline “Bare to Be Bold” Color-Whisper Lipcolor.
