NYFW Fall 2012
HELIOS & LUNA – AUTUMN / WINTER 2012

Designer Patricia Clyne of Helios & Luna debuted her Fall/Winter 2012 collection with a presentation of her very chic and sophisticated designs, which had a late 1960’s feel with a modern touch. “This season I went to an art gallery for my inspiration for the new Helios & Luna Collection for Fall 2012. I become obsessed by the paintings of British conceptual modern artist Martin Creed. His graphic bold strokes and colors reflect the spirit of the women the collection is designed for.” said Patricia Clyne backstage.

Clyne, a member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, began making clothes at 10, launched her own company before she turned 25, and has seen her clothes sold in Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman, sought after by the Smithsonian Institution for its Costume Collection, and featured in the pages of Vogue. Today Helios&Luna is a brand grounded in elegance, individuality and quality; something that we can see in this collection.

The first look in the presentation, included a viscose blend color blocked sweater in polished copper with a leather double knit yoke skirt and a nylon effortless topper. but most of them were beautiful, simple separates which were paired together with bold, unexpected pieces bringing visual interest to the looks. Color blocking felt modern when paired with patterns like polka dot, and geometric panels which were interestingly enhanced by contrasting under lays. Earthy tones of copper, fire, chocolate brown and powder dominated the collection, with hints of ivory, asparagus green and grape adding a broad range of colors. The execution of the clothes was totally perfection, expert tailoring and simple silhouettes were evident. This collection is for women on the go who wants to look beautiful, feel sexy, but at the same time look chic.
