TRIPLE J PROJECT PART 2: JED TEXAS

Note: This is the continuing part from a trilogy of interviews, first episode Jamie Wise

After having been modelling for only one year, British up-and-coming model, Jed Texas has visibly made a name for himself. He has captured the hearts of prestige designers and fashion editors with his chiseled features and a striking resemblance to young Marlon Brando coupled with cheeky and sparkling personality. Since the bright beginning, Jed has appeared in numerous editorials including Love Magazine lensed by the A-list photographer Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott; Rollacoaster, Hero Magazine, Attitude, 7TH Man Magazine, Another Man, Wonderland, Fiasco Magazine, Essential Homme and many more to add to his mounting portfolio. He has also landed his first cover with A Perfect Guide. His promising career doesn’t stop there, he starred in Vivienne Westwood’s underwear campaign and Aqua A/W 2012 campaign. Besides the impressive editorial and campaign records, Jed has stomped the runways of London Fashion Week including TKZ, Tween, Christopher Shannon and A Child Of The Jago.

Recently,Carbon Copy has listed him as one of the 100 Faces of 2011. It is obvious that this rising star has quite the career ahead of him and is getting ready to lead the pack and dominate the fashion world.

Patinya: Could you please tell us a little bit about yourself?
Jed: My name is Jed Texas. And no I’m not from Texas, America. I’m from LANDAN!! Born and raised in Islington, North London where my family roots go back many generations. I got two little sisters, both of them are dancers. I was a bit naughty boy growing up but now everyone is proud of what I’m doing. Just being my cheeky self on a daily basis haha.

Patinya: How did you start modelling? And what was your first modelling job?
Jed: I was scouted in Hampstead by Ian Cole, a fashion photographer while out with friends drinking. He persuaded me I should do modelling and I grabbed the chance! Then my first job was an editorial for Attitude. So all my family and friends went and bought it and just found out that it was the no.1 gay magazine ha! boy!! I got the piss taken out of me and still to this day! But I love it!! hahaha

Patinya: Has your view on the fashion industry changed since you’ve become a model?
Jed: I never really had a view on the fashion industry before! It never appealed to me! Fashion was just something I wore! But now I see it as a crazy industry full of cool people making mad things happen and has opened my eyes up also to a lot of designers I would never had known about!

Patinya: What are your thoughts on a stereotype of a ‘male model’ that they’re dumb?
Jed: To be honest I don’t think models are dumb! Yeah there’s a few (like myself) but models are scouted all over the place and come from many different backgrounds so who’s to tell if they’re dumb?! Most guys I know are actually clever business-minded young talented people!

Patinya: What’s the craziest shoot you’ve ever done so far?
Jed: The craziest job for me has got to be a 2-day shoot for Love magazine by Mert & Marcus! Not only was it the craziest but also the best! I was working with supermodels such as Lara Stone (face of CK) Maricarla Boscono (face of Givenchy) Saskia de Brauw (face of Versace) and there to name a few! But what the work involved was what made it crazy for me! Had to stare at these girls naked for a whole 2 days! Not only did I have a good day I had the best 2 days of my life!

Patinya: What is your favourite thing in fashion week?
Jed: I love fashion weeks especially London! You get to meet some great people and there are loads of parties to attend!! But my favourite thing is the buzz on the runway! It’s the best feeling! And to come off and go out partying with the people of fashion week is just cool as well!!

Patinya: How do you balance your personal life and modelling career?
Jed: I don’t balance it at all!! Modelling has become my life! And also taken over my personal life too!! Everything I do now work, travelling, partying, chilling, is normally related to modelling someway! Whether it is chilling with models, going to a fashion party or working for days in a studio, it’s all FASHION!!

Patinya: What would you be, if you weren’t a model?
Jed: Who knows??? I didn’t have a job before so I haven’t got a clue. But let’s say some sort of kingpin or property developer! Just because it sounds good! Hahaha

Patinya: What’s your personal style?
Jed: I would say my personal style is cool streets of London. Trendy and versatile! Well I’d like to think what I wear is cool though! Actually, I wear what I like and what I want!!

Patinya: Any bad habits? And what’s your current addiction?
Jed: Yep! I have a terrible habit of not starting a conversation with beautiful girls!! Normally over confident but sometimes just don’t know where to start! So girls if I don’t say anything please say hello! And my current addiction is Twitter!!! Just got on the twitter hype and getting hooked like I did not long ago on Facebook! I can officially say I’m now a social networker! Find out more @JedTexas Ha!

Patinya: Where’s your dream place to live?
Jed: I always said Maldives but that’s if I was old! At this time of age I have to say New York City! It’s the place to be!! There’s so much life there and too cool for school and if you ever get bored just take a short trip down to Miami! Not a bad life is it?!

Patinya: People would be surprised to know that you…
Jed: That Jed is my REAL NAME! (Unlike most models we know)!

Patinya: Which super power would you like to have and why?
Jed: If I had a superpower it would have to be able to go INVISIBLE! Haa the things I would do with that you wouldn’t believe! Not only would I be a billionaire with all the banks I would rob but the fun and madness of scaring people out there would be jokes!

Patinya: What are you goals as a model? How do you see yourself progress in this career?
Jed: I want to do everything!! I don’t really set myself any goals but I know what I want and I work as hard as I can to get it! At first I wanted to get recognised and onto models.com now I’m there so I want to work up to the top 50 and one day maybe no.1 haha To progress in this career you’ve just got to be yourself! Be who you are, express your personality and show everyone what you can do and let the Fashion Industry decide!

You may follow Jed’s anytime.

The final part of the Triple J Project trilogy will end with the talented young British model, James Smith next month – don’t miss it!
