The newly launched CREEM forces its readers to open their eyes and minds and challenges them to question their understanding of what a magazine is and what it can be.

By bringing you a distinctive look at fashion and art & design and putting them in perspective with other cultural mediums CREEM sucks you under the radar in a way that is not only visually stimulating but also informative. CREEM takes you on a journey with its team of fresh new talent that lets you help decide the destination and might just inspire you to pursue dreams of your own.

CREEM, edited and published by photographer Jenn Cress, forces its readers to open their eyes and minds and challenges them to question their understanding of what a magazine is and what it can be.

By bringing you a distinctive look at fashion and art & design and putting them in perspective with other cultural mediums, CREEM provides a refreshing departure from the increasingly homogenized world of magazines at a time when harsh economic realities are weeding out the excess in all things fashion-related.

This “stepping back and reevaluating” heralds a newfound discipline, from narrowing down a designer’s focus to shifting the fashion industry’s entire calendar.

“While the fashion ‘season’ is arguably on its way to becoming irrelevant as far as the consumer is concerned, and some hope that it is only a matter of time before the industry follows, CREEM is already offering up a seasonless and boundless look at fashion, art, and design,” says Cress.

In the first issue she offers an interview with designer Laurent Seguin, whose humbleness despite major achievements mirrors a new ethic; a piece by New York blogger/stylist Katerina Simonova on the discipline it takes to get to where you’re going in the fashion world; and an amazing shoot featuring model Diane Johnson.

H&M is proud to announce that its next designer collaboration will be with Lanvin, one of the most influential brands of the 21st century. Designed by Lanvin’s artistic director Alber Elbaz, and menswear designer Lucas Ossendrijver, the collection will go on sale on November 23 in around 200 H&M stores worldwide. The collection of both womenswear and menswear will be revealed to the world on November 2, just three weeks before the clothes hit the store, making the launch of Lanvin for H&M among the most anticipated fashion events of the year.

“H&M approached us to collaborate, and see if we could translate the dream we created at Lanvin to a wider audience, not just a dress for less. I have said in the past that I would never do a mass-market collection, but what intrigued me was the idea of H&M going luxury rather than Lanvin going public. This has been an exceptional exercise, where two companies at opposite poles can work together because we share the same philosophy of bringing joy and beauty to men and women around the world.” Alber Elbaz, artistic director of Lanvin.

“We are thrilled about Lanvin’s collection for H&M, it is such an exciting moment. Lanvin will bring to H&M a luxurious French tradition that is also modern and playful. It is very much a Lanvin collection, using their cut and tailoring, with lots of focus on form and details for both women and men. The launch in November is going to be full of wonderful surprises.” Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor at H&M.

Since joining Lanvin as artistic director in 2001, Alber Elbaz has transformed the Paris-based label, founded in 1889 by Jeanne Lanvin, into a fashion powerhouse bursting with ideas and creativity. Alber Elbaz has pioneered there some of the biggest trends of the past decade – ribbon, bows, pearls, raw edges, sumptuous colour and metallic embellishment among many others. Alber Elbaz has a mastery of cut and an instinct for cloth which leaves a very personal signature on his work, ensuring that all Lanvin clothes are instantly recognizable. Since the introduction of a new menswear line in 2006, Alber Elbaz has also transformed the male wardrobe, bringing a relaxed elegance to men’s clothing which is as special as the womenswear.

Lanvin is the latest brand to collaborate with H&M, with previous collections designed by the likes of Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Comme des Garçons and Sonia Rykiel. In a new twist, the Lanvin for H&M collection will be revealed to the world through a special film which will be launched on November 2. The film will be available for all to see online at www.hm.com. Following the film’s debut, it will be just three weeks before customers have the chance to get their hands on a covetable piece of Lanvin for H&M.

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week S/S 2011

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week First Season in Lincoln Center’s Damrosch Park.

The move of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week to Lincoln Center has allowed IMG Fashion to unveil event upgrades such as modernized production capabilities for designers, digital services concurrent with the advanced needs of the 21st Century, better accessibility for attendees through both public and private transportation and great resources/facilities on-site and in the surrounding areas.

“This is a very exciting day for us,” said Peter Levy, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of IMG Fashion Worldwide. “The move has allowed IMG to reinvent and improve so many aspects of Mercedes-

Benz Fashion Week as well as develop a stronger link to the surrounding facilities and spaces available at Lincoln Center and the neighborhood.

“This is the first season in what we are confident will be a long run at Lincoln Center.” Said Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, Director of Fashion, Lincoln Center, “We are delighted to provide Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week with a new home and an extraordinary array of possibilities. Over the past few years, Lincoln Center has undergone a transformation, resulting in a campus that is aesthetically spectacular as well as extremely accessible. We look forward to providing the fashion industry with one central location for activities in and around the tents. In addition, we plan to welcome consumers with a dynamic array of opportunities to engage with the art of fashion.”

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center, which will be held from September 9 to 16, willimplement a number of technical enhancements to adjust with the changing needs of the fashion community. These upgrades include; a gracious lobby to better accommodate designer guests, press and industry professionals; modified runway theaters and modular designer spaces that support advanced production capabilities; expanded lighting and digital design resources; new décor and increased venue/runway sizes and seating enhancements. The event will continue to host three runway venues, and has added a fourth presentation space for designer presentations, industry forums, press conferences and other activities. The venue cost to each designer will remain the same as in previous seasons of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is also moving into the 21st Century with a host of digital age tools for the fashion industry, designers, PR firms and fashion fans. The event, whose fundamental mission has always been to “organize, centralize and modernize” the American collections, has applied this mantra to its dynamic website: http://newyork.mbfashionweek.com/ which was launched August 23, 2010 and has implemented new digital tools to create state of the art registration, credentialing and seating systems that integrate the registration, invitation and check-in process for attendees.

This season, press credentials come with a unique bar code and pretty photo of their owner. If you have press credentials and are RSVP’d under your name for a show, you can scan your bar code at the airport-esque kiosk, get a printout of your seat assignment, and be on your way. The photos are to prevent the credentials from getting passed around to or stolen by people who shouldn’t have them. If you try to get past security at the entrance with someone else’s credentials that you found on the ground or something, guards may not let you in. But you can still get in without credentials if, say, you’re just on the list for one show. Read on for details.

Individuals RSVP’d for shows will receive seating confirmation via e-mail. These will get you past Lincoln Center security guards. The e-mail will have a bar code that attendees can scan at the kiosks to print seat assignments and get in. If, last-minute, you are not able to go to a show, you can alert the show’s PR team and send a substitute with your e-mail. The bar code on the e-mail can be scanned from a smartphone or a printed piece of paper. Once your seat is scanned in, if a devious person who shouldn’t have the ticket gets their hands on it and tries to scan it in, they won’t be able to. And in case technology fails you, real people will be on hand to check you in. However, this season, they’ll have computers instead of tedious gigantic binders full of lists. But again, once you’re checked into the online system, no one else can get in under your name.

Design houses participating for the Springn2011 season include:

Academy of Art University, ADAM, Adrienne Vittadini, Alexander Berardi, Andy & Debb, Argentina Group Show, Badgley Mischka, BCBGMAXAZRIA, Betsey Johnson, Bibhu Mohapatra, Bill Blass, Binetti, Buckler, Carlos Miele, Charlotte Ronson, Christian Siriano, Concept Korea, Custo Barcelona, Cynthia Rowley, Davidelfin, Dennis Basso, Duckie Brown, EDITION Georges Chakra, Elie Tahari, Farah Angsana, General Idea, Gottex, Herchcovitch, Alexandre, Hervé Léger by Max Azria, Isaac Mizrahi, IVANAHelsinki, J. Mendel, Jenny Packham, L.A.M.B., Lela Rose, Luca Luca, Mackage, Max Azria, Michael Angel, Milly By Michelle Smith, Monique Lhuillier, Monique Péan, Naeem Khan, Nanette Lepore, Nicholas K, Odd Molly, Perry Ellis, Ports 1961, Rebecca Moses, Rebecca Taylor, Richie Rich, Rosa Cha, Ruffian, Sophie Theallet, Tadashi Shoji, Tibi, Timo Weiland, TONYCOHEN, Tory Burch, Tracy Reese, Trias, Vassilios Kostetsos, Verrier, Vivienne Tam, William Tempest, Yoana Baraschi And Zang Toi.

Each year, the 232,000 attendees at Fashion Weeks generate new economic activity for New York City businesses, accounting for more than $466 million in direct visitor spending and contributing to $1.6 billion in annual tax revenue to the City‟s fashion industry. For the businesses surrounding Lincoln Center specifically – the restaurants, hotels, and retailers – as well as the thousands of caterers, security, and service workers staffing the shows, relocating Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week will result in economic benefits. More than $40 million annually is spent on meals at local restaurants; nearly $30 million on taxis, Town Cars, and public transportation; and an additional $56 million at area hotels. Are you ready for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week S/S 2011??

It’s already been a momentous year for Tommy Hilfiger, and the festivities are far from over. First in March, Phillips-Van Heusen (the parent company of Calvin Klein) acquired the company to the tune of $3 billion. But there’s more, Assouline is publishing a commemorative tome to commemorate the brand’s 25th anniversary. By producing 1,000 handmade, limited-edition books at $550, this 144-page tome (featuring 200 illustrations, 65 which are hand- tipped) is probably for his most devout fans. Presented in a beautiful linen box, the book’s cover bears the label’s iconic flag in bold red and blue bordered with genuine gold stitching.

“Tommy Hilfiger,” by Tommy Hilfiger has a scrapbook vibe. The book uses a photo-album format to capture the essence of a designer who has never been one to put a barrier between fashion and life. With tributes by admirers from Anna Wintour to Quincy Jones, Tommy Hilfiger celebrates the designer’s considerable contribution to fashion, dressing people for the way they want to live their lives—freely and with style, with a nod and a wink to tradition.

“This book is a culmination of my life’s work, sharing some of my innermost thoughts throughout the years…. It’s the equivalent of telling a friend about my family,” says Tommy.

Tommy Hilfiger by Tommy Hilfiger is available at Assouline bookstores: www.assouline.com

Congratulations Mr. Hilfiger!!!

The Manuel De La Cruz woman is the multitasking social butterfly, who isn’t afraid to flaunt her figure; his man is exquisitely dressed and willing to stand out from the crowd.

On September 11, 2010, Manuel de la Cruz will present his Spring/Summer 2011 collection during New York Fashion Week inspired by Semana Santa (Holy Week), at the Metropolitan Pavilion from 8:00pm – 9:30pm. The event will be a gallery presentation of Manuel’s latest work, inspired by the traditions of his native Guatemala.

During the celebration of Semana Santa, the people show their devotion to their faith by marching down the cobbled streets carrying figurines depicting lifelike scenes from The Passion. According to de la Cruz, this is by far the most colorful and fascinating time in his homeland, as the purple and black ensembles worn by the natives gave birth to the imaginative genius of Manuel’s collection.

In his collection, Manuel incorporates black, purple, light blue, and baby pink to create a chic and sophisticated allusion to the colorful nature of the tradition. The women’s collection will be accented by hand embroidered belts and will include sheer cocktail dresses in soft silky blended fabrics such as chiffon, silk cotton, double face duchess satin, silk Georgette and French lace. The men’s collection will consist of tailored pieces with a modern allusion to classic shapes. The materials utilized will include wool blends for the suits, and contrasting silk duchess satin for the jackets as well as trousers. De la Cruz will launch a new line of shoes, swimwear and t-shirts that will complement the existing suits and dresses in his current collection.

From the emotional nature of Semana Santa, Manuel creates a theme that reflects the passion and darkness of this intriguing custom. His creativity knows no bounds; it is rivaled only by his humanitarian awareness, demonstrated by his support of the Leslie Munzer Neurological Institute of Long Island.

About Leslie Munzer Neurological Institute of Long Island

The Leslie Munzer Neurological Institute of Long Island, Inc. (LMNI) is a non-profit organization seeking to provide information to patients and the community regarding neurological and physiological disorders. They encourage the prevention of brain and spinal cord injury by maintaining clear channels of communication with their patients, and promote the early diagnosis of neurological disorders and diseases to improve the quality of life for those affected by neurological disease.

The Migration Series by American artist Jacob Lawrence was a great inspiration for the Spring Summer 2011 Collection of the Vessel. by lois.
His use of bold colors makes his paintings rich with energy and a new hope as it tells the story of courage and faith of the men and women who were a part of the huge Exodus from the South to the North as they sought a better life for themselves and their families.
Designer Lois Samuels worked these colors within her aesthetic which consists of clean, structured shapes, utilitarian type suits and tailored pieces.
As an immigrant she feels honored to be a part of the journey as she presents her Collection in New York’s Grand Central Terminal .

Grand Central Terminal presents the Vessel. by lois Spring/Summer 2011 Collection on September 9th 2010 in the Vanderbilt Hall.

By invitation Only
