Diesel Black Gold made debut of its first separate show for menswear, departing from the combined women & men shows that have been taking place these past years during New York fashion week. A different concept from the s/s 2012 “modern nomad traveler” is what its remaking the essence of style for their men this upcoming fall. The collection focuses on the rock-edge vibe, that goes in compass with the philosophy of the label, and creates an interesting balance between rebellious-effortless style. Although, this was a good breakthrough at Pitti Uomo, as many would have considered this collection as well. In a season that most likely men fall 2012 catwalks were invaded by the drastic modesty, and politeness aspects of gentlemen, Diesel Black Gold made us face a different side that was played by another character, who’s style remains hardcore as it continues its evolution & reinvention over the years.
Cable knitted sweaters with old-worn leather sleeves (that looked as if they were from bomber jackets)-Followed by maxi braided sweaters, which fit perfect for this year concept for fall. But if you think that Rock’n'roll had a fight with the gentlemen from other collections, you’re wrong, actually the sartorial cavalier aptitudes joined forces by making their own way through it, three piece suits, piped blazers, a deep plum luscious velvet suit, and a double breasted one in red; delivered a formalwear concept, that juxtaposes with men walking in old worn boots and mixing his heavy-duty jewelry. Pony hair coats; specially a long one with an exaggerated lapel neckline done in trimmed fur, portrayed a sense of high end outerwear, that falls in a contrast of casual-elegance. To continue Rock’n'roll all the way; the improved details and silhouettes on motocross jackets, are an important highlight from the collection.
The muted neutral palette of dusty grey’s, plums, red, saffron orange, indigo blue & blacks, could represent the new step into something that far from Diesel Black Gold‘s remarkable and distinguished denim, can cause great jump that will reinforce the routes of something that for sure, will bring new markets to the table.
