For Fall/Winter 2012-13 Christopher Bailey, chief creative officer of Burberry, focused on the classy gentleman who likes to wear the perfect tailored suit, with the perfect overcoat. The show started with the models walking down the runway “under the rain”, while melancholic music was playing in the background setting-up the mood for this Fall 2012 collection.
The collection included everything that a gentleman, who wants to look elegant, needs. From tailored suits, slim trousers, sweaters, jackets and beautiful overcoats which the brand is well known for, in textiles like velvet, tweed, wool, corduroy and leather which was included in some of the jackets and accessories. When it comes to color grey’s definitely dominated the runway, but there was also tan, brown, olive and splashes of mustard, maroon and geometrical prints, patterns and animal motifs came on shirts, sweaters, bags and the redefined Burberry cropped jacket, for which tons of fashion enthusiasts are excited.
“I wanted the attitude to be polite. I wanted it to feel charming,” Christopher Bailey said backstage after the show.
As always the accessories were fabulous from the umbrellas, which features duck and hound animal head handles, to the scarves, hats, ties and the most notably studded leather gloves and bags, which are some of my favorite’s accessories pieces on the runway.
“I think it is important to smile. I think that is what fashion is also about, making you think and making you smile. You don’t always have to be serious,” Bailey said. Definitely Fall 2012 is the Season of the Suit, as every designer thus far has been sending them down the runway in their latest menswear collections.
