BOTTEGA VENETA Fall 2012/13

A dandy playful men walked the Bottega Veneta fall winter 2012 runway once again, Tomas Maier hit the nail with a remarkable fusion of colorblock & textures, an ease theme attached to the infallible masculinity feeling of the clothes. Forward accents added a twisted sartorial vibe to the collection, starting with blazers that have shadows of circumferences as colorblock in neutral tones. Some, have solid colors dividing in vertical forms the front, torso, and shoulders by using two different hues; almost as if geometric stencil shapes were used to leave those marks in different colors. After that, it was clear that Tomas wanted to highlight those shadows by giving them a 3D effect with shiny geometric prints that look as resin, in colors deep blue & emerald green, which were stamped at the front area of a blazer; making a sensational effect that features the experimental process that Bottega Veneta always deliver in every show. As a fan of textures, the development of new materials took Maier to create collar button shirts with synthetic-iridescent metallic leather and also an aviator jacket in silver-ish cracked leather-those are pieces that still keep his vision & spirit for designing broke forward sartorial pieces with non-conventional materials.

The perspective this upcoming season also emblems dark-denim as huge statement for fall, making them as main characters for every casual look. From wrinkled textured-to biker silhouette denim-trousers with kilted puffy forms below the knees; all represent the urge for comfort and the translated concept that casual-wear is the new elegance. To follow, waxed leather jeans, black leather-swede jackets & Coats with crossed lapels that have sharp seams & sleeves in black leather-perfect pieces that perform the evolution from a la Bottega Veneta philosophy. And as for color, Tomas step out of the colorful scheme that played an important game for the current and past seasons, leading a welcoming scale of neutral shades and black-on-black hues; however, this time the blacks were powerful, soft and mate aspects from the textures of different leathers.

Tapered cuffs, padded shoulders, buttons and zippers were placed sharp and seamlessly to gave a touch of harmony to complement the construction of the pieces-although, that never goes out of Tomas meticulous eye for detail; but the evident absence of the everlasting Bottega Veneta maroquinerie bags left the audience with question marks about their favoritism with the signature strand crossed leather; maybe his drastic change with the new men heeled chain boots, means a new departure for the upcoming collections. Overall Maier always make the best clothes for the modern contemporary men of now days.
