New York Fashion Week is literally right around the corner and the killer partnership between Mac Cosmetics & MILK studios has now changed and to industry sources, Mazdack Rassi’s fashion week, founded in partnership with M.A.C Cosmetics in September 2009, will now be referred to as “MILK MADE”. The bi-annual event, which has been held at Milk Studios’ 80,000-square-feet of space at 450 W. 15th Street in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District, is still expected to have M.A.C’s involvement even though Estee’ Lauder officials have not commented on the situation. I for one think this time around they are back stronger than ever, not to mention the 32 runways and presentations they acquired on to their roster last year which were shown at their location.
MAC is one of the leading manufacturing cosmetic companies in the beauty industry coming out of Toronto, Canada it was founded by Frank Angelo in 1984. At first the company was geared towards professional make-up artist but got smart and became successfully worldwide when it decided to sell to consumers all over the world. Unfortunately Mr. Angelo passed away in 1997 but the company thrives and was acquired by Estee’ Lauder Companies since 1994. Since then MAC has been an advocate for numerous amounts of programs such as MAC – Cruelty-Free Beauty, which prohibits animal testing, The MAC AIDS Fund which supports community organizations who provide direct services to people living with AIDS, and many more.Hell, I remember the harsh winter months in NYC when I would pass MILK Studios, and not once in my life did I ever get a thought that I would have a chance to go into their facilities. Well let me tell you that god works in mysterious ways, and without getting philosophical on you I’ll tell you a bit about MILK STUDIOS or I should say now MILK MADE. Milk Studios is an art gallery and photography studio which has rendered their services to the fashion industry since the dawn of time. They literally came out of nowhere last year with this partnership that has taking the company to sky-rocketing revenue making.
MILK studios has been offering designers multilayered support including; space for their shows, presentations and press appointments. A designer will also have the option to hold castings, hair and makeup tests and look book shoots at The Milk Building. Now the question is whether IMG is friendly with its neighbor MILK MADE? This definitely stirs the fashion pot, if you know what I mean. Lots of big names and not so well known names with potential of becoming house hold names are on board with MILK MADE. Now let’s see what Estee Lauder’s people have to say in the upcoming days.
