Yesterday was the release of ASHANTI’s latest Album “THE DECLARATION”.
A new venture for the Universal/Motown singer. She worked solely on this project.
From the intro you can tell She’s matured, she’s declaring herself!. We headed out to Virgin Megastore Times Square, where Ashanti graced us with a mini concert belting out 5 tracks for all her fans. Stepping onto the stage promptly at 6:30 P.M., in her white halter top, white shorts, and killer gold heels to give us a classic “FOOLISH”. Followed by another on sure to be a hit “GOOD GOOD”,(which the crowd fully embraced and sang to) “SO OVER YOU”, “YOU’RE GONNA MISS”, & “THE WAY THAT I LOVE YOU” were the other songs she performed. Her voice was clear as day, she delivered a great performance for those in attendance. Even as time ran long, she made sure she got to speak to every single fan. Not caring about how long it would take out of her busy schedule.

Truly classy lady Ms. Ashanti gets our vote. It was a pleasure and an honor meeting and speaking with her. We are in love with “THE DECLARATION” It’s been 4 years since her last album, and this one is a must. Great summer anthem album! She even has guest singers on her album like Robin Thick, Nelly, & Akon. Thanks to Shane Smith, Virgin Megastore Times Square, Universal/Motown & ASHANTI!

Check out the video for “THE WAY THAT I LOVE YOU”

Mizz Cori is taking over the Drag Race http://www.metrovelvet.com/blog/archives/421 http://www.metrovelvet.com/blog/archives/421#comments Wed, 21 May 2008 15:53:20 +0000 Juan Mario http://www.metrovelvet.com/blog/archives/421 Photobucket

When considering all it takes to become a well known drag queen we must not underestimate what that really entails. In the world of “ Glitz and Glamour” it’s not simply slapping on some makeup and a nicely fitting wig in order to make it. Any young gay boy has snuck into his mother’s closet and tried on her heels while she was in the shower, that doesn’t make him a fierce drag queen. So what does it take?

Mizz Cori knows exactly what it means when someone says taking it to the next level. Knowing that in the world of color there are no limits to how loud or soft one can go. Mizz Cori has most frequently been seen these days hosting at a very popular club in Ft.Lauderdale called Jet Set Nightclub. Here you can see her at least 3 times a week if not more and I would pay the person who says they have seen her wear the same things twice. The rainbow of Mizz Cori’s closet is one the sky hasn’t ever shown us before.

She has taken the Drag Diva world by storm with her appearances on the very popular MTV show sweet 16 and has also begun making appearances on the Atlantis Gay Cruises. You can see her annually at One Mighty Party in Orlando for its “Gay Days” celebrations. She is Miss Stonewall 2005 and the current reigning Miss South Florida Fantasy Illusion Plus. “When I am not working as a entertainer, I am working on my education. I have 3 degrees .A.A. General education, A.S. in Theatre and entertainment technology, and a bachelor’s in Graphic design. I am currently working on my Masters in web design.”

So what’s next for this diva with so many claims to fame as it is? Well it’s time to take off into the new upcoming show on the LOGO network RuPaul’s Drag Race. On this show RuPaul will be the host and put the finalists through a competition of the sorts of Americas Next Top Model. According to Perezhilton.com RuPaul says “Tell Tyra that the Queen has returned, and while you’re at it have Heidi clear the runway. I’m going to pump some ‘realness’ into reality. To be a winner on this show the contestants need to be a fashion designer, an American Idol, and a top model all rolled up into one. And they definitely have to be smarter than a fifth grader.”

The website votes will allow one winner to enter the show by means of voting. Voters can vote once a day for their choice Drag Diva and Mizz Cori is in it to win it. Many of her friends on the Myspace network have done their job by spreading the word and asking others to vote. She guarantees that WHEN she makes it to the winners circle you will see the magic a drag diva is meant to have. “I promise you I will represent the title of winning Rupaul’s Drag Race fabulously! Let me make reality TV history with you in your living room! Go to this link in order to vote for the diva everyday – she thanks you in advance for all the support.

Check out our favorite assistant from Mode Magazine Betty Suarez, as she makes a request from Madonna. Hope Madonna makes a response video back.
Could we see The Queen of Pop on an episode of Ugly Betty next season. They are moving to NYC, Madonna has been on Will & Grace, we’d love to see her make a cameo on Ugly Betty.
New Season of Ugly Betty will start when Madonna kicks of her “Sticky & Sweet Tour”, hope they can hear us and work the Icon into an episode.
